Mission San Jose was founded in 1797 and was included in the City of Fremont when it was incorporated in 1957.
The first water works were built in 1870 by a company whose superintendent of Juan Gallegos.
The Alameda County Water District was formed in 1914 and bought the Gallegos Water Works in 1940.

Alameda County Water District, which
has a history
book.
