Salinas, California

Salinas was incorporated as a city in 1874.

The first water works were built in 1875 by the Salinas Gas & Water Company.

The Monterey County Gas & Electric Company was organized in 1903 and absorbed the Salinas company.  This in turn was merged into the Coast Valleys Gas & Electric Company around 1912.  This was acquired by the H.M. Byllesby utility holding company empire.  The water systems were later spun off as the California Water Service Company.

Water is provided by California Water Service.and Alco Water.Service Company
