The Davenport Consolidated Gas, Electric and Steam Heating Company was organized in January 1896 and began supplying steam in October.
The company shut down at the end of the 1941-1942 heating system.

R. H. Lind, Industrial Engineer of the Peoples Light Company informs us
that as a result of a complete study this past summer, 38% of their system
has been discontinued, which a loss of only 9% in gross revenue. The
parts cut-off were in the non-profit outlying district and were quite
old. There will be a decrease in maintenance as well as less line
loss.

The Peoples Light Company has changed its name to the Iowa Illinois Gas
& Electric Co About 50% of the steam customers have been dropped
to date in anticipation of discontinuance of central station heating
service after this season.
