Evanston, Illinois

Evanston was incorporated as a village in 1863 and as a city in 1892.

The village built a Holly water system that began service in early 1875 with a Holly steam-driven Quadruplex pump.

Water is provided by the city of Evanston, which has a history page.

Pages 431-432:  Water Works and Fire Department.  In April, 1875, the works were in full operation, over $100,000 having been expended on them up to that time.  In January, 1878, Ira A. Holly, who had been superintendent of the works for some time, resigned his position.
