Grand River, Ohio

Grand River was founded in 1832 as Richmond, with the name changing to Grand River around 1890.

The Richmond Watering Company was incorporated in 1835 by George Everitt, Thomas Richmond, Wilmot Oakley, Wm. H. Byron and John Weaver "for the purpose of supplying the village of Richmond, in the county of Geauga, with water."

The Richmond Water Company was incorporated in 1836 by John W. Okley, E. Shepherd, Geo. E. K. Day, John Barr, and Ol. A. Crary, "for the purpose of supplying the village of Richmond, in the county of Geauga, with good and wholesome water, from a certain spring, on lot No. 4, in the township of Painesville, in the county aforesaid, known as the Jackman Spring."

No evidence has been found that either of the above companies built anything.

The Painesville Water Company was incorporated in 1891 and built a system that serves Painesville, Fairport and Richmond.  The company had legal disputes with the city of Painesville and was taken over by the city in 1897.

Water is currently provided by the Lake County Utilities East Subdistrict.
