Albany was incorporated in 1864.
The first water works was built by John A. Crawford in 1880.
He sold the system to the Albany Canal, Water, Transportation and Lighting Company in 1889.
The city of Albany bought the water system on January 1, 1985.
Water is supplied by the
City of Albany.
