Meshoppen, Pennsylvania

Meshoppen was incorporated as a borough in 1879.

The Meshoppen Water Company was incorporated on January 22, 1869 and built a gravity system that was operating by 1871.  The company was sold at a Sheriff's Sale in 1883 and reorganized.

Water is provided by the Meshoppen Borough Water Company.

Meshoppen is being well supplied with water by the "Meshoppen Water Company."  Pipes are laid in the principal streets, and a goodly number of families are furnished a full supply of good fresh water.

Page 519:  Meshoppen Water Company.  This corporation was chartered in 1869, with an authorized capital of $4,000. The company has expended more than twice that sum; has a reservoir over a lsrge spring on the farm of E. J. Mowry and another on Auburn street, which is filled by an iron main running a mile up Little Meshoppen creek. Ordinarily the village is well supplied with water.
