Clarksville, Tennessee

Clarksville was incorporated as a city in 1807.

The first water works was built by Travers Daniel for the Clarksville Water Company and began operation in June, 1879.  Daniel was superintendent until resigning in November, 1881,

The city bought the system on July 3, 1893 for $13,000.

Water is supplied by the City of Clarksville.

Mr. Daniel and the company he represents have constructed water-works at Birmingtham, Ala., New Albany, Ind., Dallas, Texas, and Little Rock, Ark.

The water-works we have mentioned in another column seem to be an assured success.  The following is the list of incorporators:  Hon. D. N. Kennedy, Dr. Beaumont, Judge Lurton, Captains gracey and Crusman, Messrs. Bryce Stewart and M.H. Clark.  There, that is a list which means business.

Look out for the Waterworks.  The project to have them is assuming shape, and materalizing.  We understand that Mr. Travers Daniels, who will take the contract, was in the city this week, and that work will actually be begun within a short time.
